Bérénice is the newest addition to De Rerum Natura family. It's a beautiful lace yarn, very fluffy without being too hairy, which when knitted on its own creates a diaphanous, frothy material that's very inspiring. It was created to enrich the textures and colours of other De Rerum Natura yarns and open up new horizons for them. Combined with Ulysse, Gilliatt and Cyrano, it makes them discreetly shiny and irresistibly soft; combined with Albertine and Pénélope, it gives them lightness and voluptuousness for a precious knitting experience and creations. Whether tone-on-tone or playing on more adventurous contrasts, these combinations add depth and a new sparkle to the palette of yarns and make you want to rediscover them in a new range of projects and gauges.
Bérénice consists 55% of South African super-kid mohair, even finer than kid mohair and incredibly soft, with the RMS label guaranteeing its traceability and controlled breeding to respect animal welfare. This airy material is blended with 20% of organic Merinos d'Arles, which gives the yarn a unique, mellow, cloudy feel and helps reduce its carbon footprint. This blend is looped around a strong, shiny silk yarn and then brushed to give the desired fluffy, voluminous look. The yarn is then dyed using environmentally-friendly dyes that comply with GOTS specifications to reduce their environmental impact.
