Do you feel that the turn towards the fall has started? I can feel it, as my children started their school and those relaxed days of summer vacation are over. There is nothing miserable in the beginning of daily rutines but of course there is some kind of longing in the back of mind. If you feel the same, there is always some soft wool to ease the sadness and make transitions more easier.
This month we chose for the yarn of the month finally something woolly but still kind of light and airy. Isager Tweed is a lovely blend of wool and mohair. It is a single ply yarn with some lovely tweedy and hand-spun look to it. There is 200 meters in 50 gram skein, so any fingering pattern will do just fine for this yarn. As always, Isager colors go together beautifully and there is lot to choose from.
I have been planning sinne last fall, that i would knit my Käpy cardigan with Isager Tweed. Pattern is in Veera Välimäki’s book, Stripes and it brings together in lovely way both lace and stripes. Maybe in colors Autumn and Mustard?
If you are looking for a nice stranded cardigan, Kate Davies’s Còinneach is a beautiful one.
In Helga Isager’s pattern Tweed is paired with Silk Mohair making the softest fabric. Please check out this cabled pullover called Twine.
And if you are looking for something more relaxed, Ankestrick’s Childhood is a perfect choice with its dropped sleeves and positive ease.
Isager Tweed is nice yarn for accessories too, and there is a lovely pattern 2 Days 1 night which include shawl, hat and mittens. Pattern combines Tweed with Alpaca 1 adding more shine and lightness. Lovely!
I hope your turning point towards the autumn will be gentle and filled up with some lovely knits and yarn.
