Euroviisut Sukat - CONTEST ENTRY

Here at ILO, we are incredibly excited that Michelle’s husband, Darude, has been asked to represent Finland in the the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 taking place in Israel 12^th-18^th of May. Most of you do not know that Darude proudly wears his Finnish wool socks, either knit by his wife or other friends and family, on stage at almost every gig he performs around the world – no matter the temperature outside –  so it is only fitting that he and Sebastian Rejman have decided that they need a special pair of Eurovision themed wool socks to have with them as they compete in Eurovision this year, and they would be honored for one of YOU to design and knit them! They will choose their favorite pattern at the end of the contest, and they will wear the winning socks in Israel in May as good luck charms! The winning pattern will also be published for free, so everyone can have the opportunity to knit their own pair of Euroviisut Sukat to wear here at home in solidarity with the representatives for Finland while they do their thing on the Eurovision stage in Israel.

*Even if you aren’t a seasoned pattern writer, don’t worry – you can still enter. If your socks are selected as the winners by Darude & Sebastian, we will help edit your pattern as needed to get it ready for publishing.

Here is how you enter:

1. Design a Eurovision / Finnish themed sock pattern and knit 2 pairs of socks using your pattern (1 in size 43, 1 in size 45). The pattern must be written for both mens and womens sock sizes, and include yarn weight and needle size used.
2. Mail or drop off the 2 pairs of socks, a printed copy of your pattern with your name, email address & phone number to ILO Knitting Shop at this address:

3. The 2 pairs of socks, printed copy of your pattern & contact information must arrive at ILO no later than 23.3.2019. Please note that entries that do not contain a pattern or contact information will not be considered for the contest.
4. If your sock pattern is chosen as the winner by Ville & Sebu, you will be contacted via phone or email for instructions on the free release of your pattern. Pattern will be released on 1.4.2019 and will include a photo of Ville & Sebu wearing your socks!
5. The winner will also receive a 50€ gift card to ILO Knitting Shop, but above all else, the purpose of the contest is to gain visibility for the winner’s Euroviisut Sukat & show our support for Finland’s representatives as they compete in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019!
